Statistics may not reveal the exact truth about cheating, affair and infidelity but they at least do give us an idea. If they are to be believed then the scenario, as far as marriage, cheating and infidelity is concerned, is scary. On an average, 40% of the females and 60% of the males in America indulge in cheating, extra marital affairs and commit infidelity. Clubbing those numbers together, about 80% of the marriages have at one point of time or the other, cheating partners. With infidelity on an all time high, it is important to know how to break free from infidelity and affair and get a cheating partner on the right track again. 

The most common pattern followed by people involved in extra marital affairs and cheating is denial. They refuse to acknowledge the fact that their relationship is in the doldrums because of their affair, cheating, infidelity and needs to be worked upon. Realize that ignorance is not always bliss when it comes to extramarital affairs, infidelity and cheating. Ignoring the fact that the marriage is going in the wrong direction is pushing it in that direction further.

Its consequences are grave and therefore, must not be jumped into without much thought. If you are already in an affair like this, indulge in damage control at the earliest and the best you can. Be responsible for your actions like cheating and infidelity. Try to rationalize. Ask yourself, “What is more important, a few moments of pleasure or a full life of it?” It never makes much sense to jeopardize a family for an affair which comes with an early expiry date.

If however, it is your partner, who has been having an affair and has indulged in infidelity, the situation is delicate and depends on how best you handle it. If your partner truly realizes his or her fault and is repenting for the mistakes made, being patient and giving another chance can be the best solution. Your marriage might already be on the rocks due to cheating and infidelity but a little understanding from your side can help it weather the storm because of your partner’s extramarital affair. You might be tempted to hurl abuses at your partner and call him/her a cheater but such situations are best avoided. Acting like adults is the solution to a problem as delicate as extramarital affair, cheating and infidelity.
